The citadel is an inherent part of Diest's city centre. It is located within the ring road and is only 400 metres from the Grote Markt. The city purchased the citadel in 2011 with the ambition of preserving the military stronghold and opening it up to a wider public.
The city is now looking for a private partner to develop the citadel into a new urban district with a healthy mix of urban functions with spatial, social and financial added value.
The Endeavour, Altstadt, ARCH&TECO team, led by Leidsman, was commissioned to guide this process. Our focus was on designing and supervising the various work sessions and mapping out the space requirements of the partners involved.
