The masterplans for Caerenberg and Keperenberg are an example where, after years of ad hoc planning, a new vision is emerging with more space for the functions and more open space by strongly focusing on multiple use.

Our approach was to use small projects to test collaborations so that a basis can be developed for thinking about - and working with users on - the future of these sites.

In several workshops, different interests (school, RVT, tennis club, neighbours, etc.) were explicitly placed opposite each other in order to achieve win-wins.

In Itterbeek, a new square is created by bringing all the remaining spaces together in the centre of the site, where the old, dilapidated recreation centre will disappear to make way for this central square.

In Schepdael, a Finnish track will connect different fragmented parts of the site.
